Why CPMUC

Our Observation

Over the years, the CPMUC has observed many persons trying to promote the idea of the Caribbean Federation (integration, unity). We believe the lack of success is due to the lack of canvassing of the Caribbean populace. Hence, the two sides have not seen the issue from the same perspective and the failure is still evident today within the Caribbean community’s economical and social integration movement, Caricom. The CPMUC mandate is to change this perception and engage the Caribbean populace worldwide in the decisions of the Caribbean region. CPMUC seeks to be the mobilizing force to unite the Caribbean populace in developing the Caribbean region.

Besides being a very multicultural society, the Caribbean is also the only African-majority region outside the African continent. Therefore, it can be a significant influence on the Global African society. Because the Caribbean lacks unity, however its full potential on the international community as being the only African-majority region, is yet to be recognized. It will not be able to effectively crate wealth, stability, sustainability and true independence unless the region unites on all fronts – economically, politically, socially, culturally, and for security measures. A united Caribbean will immediately have the ability to influence African-Central Americans, Americans, Europeans, Canadians, and the continent. African-American are some of the wealthiest Africans known within the African communities. A united Caribbean will also influence investments from African-Americans, Europeans, North Americans, and Africa.

If we do not unite, the question then is, why should these established communities take their money out of the Federation and invest in a small island such as Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Vincent and Grenadines, Granada, Haiti or any other Caribbean State? Each is considered as a small individual island, which cannot compete with the international community. How will the dollar circulate to create wealth within the African community when the small States are not able to sustain themselves against the international community? This would be viewed as a risky economic investment.

CPMUC expects strong support during the first-year of The United Caribbean, and an influx of Caribbean citizens – including their families born outside the Caribbean- relocating to the regions over a five-year span. We also believe we will see an influx of non-Caribbean seeking to relocate to the islands to partake in the new developed Caribbean. Based on the vast natural resources of the Caribbean, the utilization of these assist through trade and business investments can assist in the development of this speedy reentry. This development would gain the Caribbean as being the most powerful group of islands in the world and competing with the likes of Britain and Japan because of it resources, bargaining power and its wealth.

The wealth, social, cultural, political, economical, and self-reliance of each individual Caribbean State has been diluted across the region. Consequently, the Caribbean is not reaping the benefits of acting collectively. There is no regional government, no regional tax and no associated benefits of a unified body. This means long-term development plans have not taken into account thoughts of home-grown betterment for our children and grand-children.

The Caribbean People Masses Unity Committee asks each Caribbean leader “What is it that every nation, state, province, territory and country requires to survive, and indeed tries to accomplish each year?” The answer we find is Wealth, Security and Self-reliance.

If we know the wealth, security, and self-reliance are things we strive for daily in society (we must have now recognized this after forty-years) and that the only way to accomplish them is by uniting as one family, let’s examine why are we waiting!

A former slave once said: “One must not enter the world and leave without knowing why one was in it.”

CPMUC is putting structures in place to gain funding from Caribbean and international governments and non-governmental organization funding bodies around the world. As a Caribbean body representing unity of all Caribbean communities, the CPMUC will then distribute funding through the Caribbean and Diaspora.

CPUMC is not the first umbrella organization of its kind in the world; for example, the United Way and the Council of Caribbean Organizations of Manitoba, to name a couple. However, we are the first to unite the Caribbean and Diaspora organizations of all races and the Black organizations in the Caribbean Diaspora.

There must be a new vision for the region through new leadership. CPMUC wants to lend a hand in this new vision: for the Caribbean to attain wealth, security and self-reliance, through unity via the Federation. The Caribbean has to stop the in-fighting and CPMUC wants to assist in molding each sister state politically, economically, socially and culturally by focusing on Caribbean Federation, a one-Caribbean nation.
